Desktop Product
Full stack engineer, Desktop Product
Remote · Full-time · 1+ years
Build the Melodex Studio desktop DAW, from the arrangement and piano roll through the mixer, Copilot, and the path from an idea to an exported track.
Melodex Studio is an AI-native desktop DAW. Producers start from language, then keep working in a real project of tracks, MIDI, arrangement, instruments, mix, and export. The desktop app is the product, and this role is for someone who wants to own that surface.
You will work across the Electron app, mostly in React and TypeScript. That covers the renderer, the main process, IPC, project files, playback, and the web surfaces that sign people in, bill them, and get the app onto their machines.
We are a small team, and the work is concrete. A producer should be able to open the studio, change a part, and leave with something they can keep.
What you will do
You will ship features across the studio, including the arrangement, piano roll, mixer, library, export, and Copilot. Much of that work is React in the renderer and Electron in the main process, tuned so the studio feels fast, stable, and precise.
You will also take on the desktop problems that only show up in a real app, from windows, files, updates, and shortcuts to audio devices and the differences between Mac and Windows. When the product needs it, you will help with the web app too, from auth and downloads to billing and the pages that stay connected to the desktop.
The job is to take a feature from a rough idea to something a producer can actually use, including the awkward last stretch.
Requirements
We are looking for at least a year of professional software engineering, with strong TypeScript and React, and a record of shipping product that real people use. You should be comfortable working on your own in a small, fully remote team.
We care about how the interface feels. Timing, keyboard flow, empty states, and the tenth hour in the tool matter as much as the first demo.
Good to have
Experience with Electron or another desktop runtime is useful, as is time spent on audio, MIDI, or music software. So is canvas or WebGL work, a custom timeline, native macOS or Windows experience, and full-stack web with Next.js or something similar. If you make music, even casually, that helps.
What we offer
Pay is competitive, and it follows the work. We also cover a home setup, so you can put together a proper desk, monitor, chair, and the basics of a working studio.
The roles are completely remote. There is no office to relocate to and no days-in-building requirement. The team is small, the product is a desktop studio producers already use, and you will own problems from one end to the other.
How to apply
There is no application portal. DM @MelodexStudio on X, say which role you want, and include a short note on why the work interests you. Add a link to something you have built, whether that is GitHub, a portfolio, a paper, a track, or a demo. A concise message is enough. We read every one.
